Who We Are

Running between the Eastern and Western United States, flowing from Minnesota to the Gulf of Mexico; the Mississippi defines greatness in a river. In contrast, the Mississippi Unquenchable Grail Zymurgists, or MUGZ, is a homebrew club centered on the Mississippi in the Quad Cities.

Despite the name, the Quad Cities includes the major cities of Davenport and Bettendorf, Iowa, and Rock Island, Moline, and East Moline, Illinois. In addition, neighboring the Quad Cities in Iowa include Blue Grass, Eldridge, LeClaire, and Riverdale; Andalusia, Carbon Cliff, Coal Valley, Colona-Green Rock, Hampton, Milan, and Silvis, are Illinois neighbors.

MUGZ members are as diversified as the Quad Cities, but we share one common love...GOOD BEER. Whether you enjoy a cool Bohemian Pilsener, a fine German lager, or a creamy Irish Stout, you can find someone to share it with in MUGZ.

The interest level with beer is just as diverse. We have members who enjoy beer and come to meeting, just to talk and sample. A vast majority of our members make beer using malt-extract, with some specialty grains. Of course we also have our hard-core all-grain brewers, who grow their own hops, have computerized mash tuns, and produce gallons upon gallons of brew.
